Programme Content
Each class will be delivered live via Zoom. A link will be sent to your email prior to each class.
- Revision – Let’s talk about how to handle last year’s work and revise it in a manageable fashion – along with the current work of 6th year.
- Organise and re-organise – One of the main keys to success in the leaving cert is organisation – how should it look at this stage
- Study patterns – WHEN /WHAT/HOW – what study strategy should we adopt at this stage with the mocks around the corner
- UCAS and CAO – What we need to consider regarding both applications now –
- Projects – We will discuss how to handle projects in the context of all work – it’s a balancing act!
- Mock prep – what strategy should we adopt for the mocks – what are the advantages and disadvantages of the mocks – Let’s put the mocks in context.
- Christmas Exams – if you have Christmas exams we need to talk about how to manage those to help you with mock preparation.
- CHRISTMAS Holidays – We will discuss strategies for study at Christmas time – a very difficult time to get motivated but it can be done.
- Revision courses – Are they valuable? – how do they play a role?
- Projects – This can be a busy time for some projects – let’s prioritise
- Dare/Hear/ Exemptions/RACE – This is the time to consider these applications – I will give a comprehensive outline of each – to see if you are eligible.
- CAO – Let’s talk about the provisional list
- STUDY – It’s mocks time – how do we use this time – are some subjects more important than others?
- Scholarships – are you eligible for the various scholarships – sports, academic, location etc
- Accommodation – if you’re not in you can’t win
- Life after mocks – Now is the time to take a deep breath and assess the mock experience without being hard on yourself – lessons do have to be learned and applied.
- Know your goals – Knowing what you going to do college/course-wise at this stage is really beneficial – it’s important to know your plan A, B and even C if needs be – and be happy with those choices.
- What did I learn? – Understand what you know have to do in order to achieve what you want in the leaving cert – this is the true benefit of the mocks.
- Repeat, PLCs, Access courses, Apprenticeship etc – Students need to consider all options as part of their plan and we will discuss some options and their benefits.
- Study – how? – This is the important time to get the pace and depth of study right – study plans as very important at this stage – but keep them simple.
- STUDY – Slow and steady: Completion of many projects, orals and practicals all have to be considered in the mix now and we still have to keep study in mind.
- CAO and UCAS – What happens with both these applications at this stage?
- Breaks – sleep – exercise – meditation – We will discuss the benefits of each in context and give you some strategies’.
- SUPPORT – We will talk about the support we provide to you from now until after the CAO offers come out.
